Symptoms:
Small painful blisters (cold sores) around the mouth and genital area.
Discharge from the anus.
Pain when pissing.
Irritation on the lips, anus and genitals.
Flu-like symptoms as the infection spreads.
Treatment:
1 - 2 visits to the clinic
Tablets and cream can reduce painful irritation and treat further outbreaks.
Herpes cannot be cured as the virus never leaves the body but outbreaks can be suppressed.
Prevention:
Herpes is a virus passed on through sexual contact, anal and oral. You should not have sexual contact until the sores have healed.
Using condoms will reduce the risk of infection.
