Gelatine lumps in semen

For the last six months I have been noticing these gelatine lumps in my semen, I can feel them coming out during ejaculation, I've had a sti test and it was negative over the months it has started to get worse now I get a mild pain before ejaculation and my semen is thick almost gel like I am very concerned and have also noticed white pearly penile papules around my penis any idea what it might be. Diet? Infection? Irregular ejaculation?

Response from Men's Sexual Health:

Thank you for getting in touch with us here at Men's Sexual Health. Firstly there's a wide range of texture, odor, and taste in normal and healthy semen. There is even variation in color, including opaque white, transparent, and yellowish. This can be caused by a variety of factors such as diet, lifestyle and alcohol consumption and even lack of regular ejaculations. This is a common question asked on our Q&A, so please do not feel alone, a lot of men have suffered from this issue.

From our knowledge, sometimes the causes of jelly-like sperm is the massive concentration of protein compound of your sperm in your testicular sperm bank, usually those teens that masturbate actively for years and suddenly refrain from doing it have a greater chance of having this stuff(though its normal). Because during the time your still active in masturbation your testicles produces more sperm so it needs sugar and protein to produce a liquid substances wherein your sperm swam. So your brain may senses that during your frequent masturbation or sex maybe, it send a message to your testicles to produce more of these substances. Consequently, to the certain point of time you did not masturbate for along period, the sperm and protein base liquid in your testicles may over reproduce and the tendency of this if you were unable to let it ejaculate, it will accumulate in your testicles and becomes highly concentrated. Subsequently this causes your sperm to look like a jelly - like substance...its normal as long its color varies from white to yellowish and no blood or black or green.

Some people find drinking more water, drinking less alcohol and masterbating more often sometimes solves the problem.

You say you went for an STI test, did you discuss with the clinic about your sperm issue and what did they suggest? The fact that you are experiencing pain however we would suggest you see you local GP/Doctor to discuss this further to rule out any other underlying condition.

Regarding your white pearly penile papules, the fact you know what they are called shows you have done your research. This are perfectly normal, nearly all men have these, some have more and bigger than others, this are just the glans of the penis and should not be worries about, again the fact you have had a STI test confirms these are unlikely to be anything other than your glans. Please do get back in touch if things don't improve.

You hit the nail on the head. I was a horny lil fucker my teen years and i was really familiar with the attic. Then i was hospitalized in my late 20's and also became depressed. Consequently my right hand man and i slowly drifted apart. As things got increasing better " purchased a smart phone, with clear picture and sound. Lets just say I wasn't haveing trouble keeping myself enertained when i had some free time. But as stated especially my first time, if i had milk and a GOOD vanilla... well i guess now its your preference i happen to be a custard guy. Not to say there's anything wrong with flan. All jokeing aside a better diet and most importantly routine master baking really does help.

Lump of clear jelly in urine stream

Hi, For the last year or two, I have had a large lump of clear jelly like substance passing during or at the end of my urine stream. Sometimes it even comes out a few minutes after urinating. I don't experience any pain during urination or ejaculation whatsoever, but am concerned as to what this could be. I have been tested for STIs and I am all clear. I briefly mentioned this to my GP and he didn't think it was anything to worry about, although couldn't give me an explanation either. Any ideas??

Response from Men's Sexual Health:

This sounds like a function of your sexual organs: the prostate produces liquids, as do the testicles it is most probably from them. You have done the right things by going to your sexual health clinic and being checked for STIs and to your GP. If the problem persists and it continues to worry you it might be worth trying to catch one of these lumps in a clean jam jar and taking it to your GP. Yes, this is much easier said than done!

Semen

why does my semen have bits in it like jelly

Response from Men's Sexual Health:

Consistency of semen varies from individual to individual and can be affected by different factors such as diet, lifestyle and alcohol consumption.

Semen that contains jelly like bits can be attributed to lack of regular ejaculation. The semen will solidfy into these jelly like lumps, regular ejaculation will maintain a smooth consistency in your semen. If further reassurance is needed please refer to your GP.

There is nothing wrong with jelly like sperm. As long as it's not a greeny colour it is perfectly normal and won't be caused by an infection. My partner gets it so I have read up on it, it is something to do with proteins.

Jelly like substance under foreskin

I have found when I am doing a number 2 (poo) I sometimes find a jelly like substance coming out of my penis, and not always that I find it just rAndomly under my foreskin, I am very worried can you please help me find out what it is

Asked by Sean

Response from Men's Sexual Health:

If you notice a little clear fluid coming out of your penis pee hole while you are straining to have a poo, this is probably just the result of some pressure on your prostate gland which sits next to the back passage (rectum).

If you find stuff under your foreskin it is likely to be something different, the most common thing being “smegma”. This is a mixture of old dead skin cells and natural body secretions which can build up there. Although pretty harmless it is a good idea to gently pull back the foreskin and clean it and the head of your penis on a daily basis. Ordinary water is OK – if it seems to be irritated or some of the smegma is stuck to your skin, use warm salty water. If you use soap remember to rinse off thoroughly because a build-up of soap can irritate the delicate skin under your foreskin.

If you find the skin over the head of your penis or under the foreskin is red and tender, you could try an anti-fungal cream like “Canesten” – but if you aren’t sure or it doesn’t seem to work, ask your doctor to take a look.

Response from Men's Sexual Health:

Hello and thanks for contacting MSH. It sounds from what you are describing, it is pre-cum. Pre-cum is a natural lubricant the penis produces when you are sexually aroused. Some men produce a lot, some a little and some men not at all, it varies from each person. This is completely normal. However, if you have ever had unsafe sex, and by unsafe I mean without a condom with a man or woman, then it could be possible that this discharge is an STI, sexually transmitted infection. If you have ever had unsafe sex, we would recommend you go to your nearest sexual health clinic and get a full screening. The doctors will then be able to give you the correct treatment if you have picked anything up. Please let us know if we can offer any further advice or support.

Gelatine lumps in seman

Can the jelly like semen make it difficult to try for a baby ?? As myself andy wife are trying for a baby could this be a problem in helping her to conceive??

Response from Men's Sexual Health:

Semen varies enormously in colour and consistency, even for the same person depending on lots of different things The appearance is not a guide to whether you are fertile and whatever it looks like is unlikely to decide whether you can father a child.

If you are concerned that you and your wife have been trying for a while without success you may want to see your GP to discuss the possible reasons for this. A useful guide is that  you should avoid sex and masturbation for three days before your wife's most fertile time – normally about day 10  of her menstrual cycle – and then have sex on a regular basis for the next few days. It is worth remembering that although we have all heard of pregnancy after a one night stand it often takes up to six months to succeed.

Response from Men's Sexual Health:

Hello and thank you for contacting MSH. It is a bit difficult to know exactly what you have said possibly due to a language issue, but from what I can understand, you are not producing much cum/semen/sperm lately after having a lot of sex recently. Men's production of semen get refiled fairly quickly in a 24hr period, but of course the more times you have sex or masturbate without a long period of time the less sperm will come out each time till you let testicles recover and produce more. Give it a couple of days break and you should find your quantity of sperm returning to normal. You can also increase your sperm but eating a healthy balanced diet, drinking plenty of fluids and being physically active. We hope this has helped with you concern, please get back in touch if needed.

Hi thanks for getting in touch with our service.

This can be caused by a variety of factors such as diet, lifestyle and alcohol consumption and even lack of regular ejaculations. Some people find drinking more water, drinking less alcohol and masterbating more often sometimes solves the problem, as this is fairly common so please dont feel alone. There is a small chance it could be caused by a urinary infection, keep an eye on it, if change in diet, drinking more water and more frequent masterbations doesn't solve it, then talk to your GP/Doctor, but I doubt this has anything to do regarding your low sperm count. Again this is something that would best be discussed with your GP. I hope this has helped put your mind at ease, do feel free to get back in touch if needed.

Response from Men's Sexual Health:

Most people go though periods of feeling more or less sexual than other times. A healthy balanced diet is probably a good start. If the Mustrong tablets are not working for you stop them too. Some people get yellowish sperm and thick if they haven't ejaculated for a while. If you have ever had sex beyond solo masturbation it would be a good idea to have a check up at a sexual health clinic, GUM or STD or STI clinic. If you can not get to a sexual health clinic then talking with your doctor is advised, doctors are used to talking about sexual questions and would much prefer you talk to them than worry.

Response from Men's Sexual Health:

It does sound like you might have an infection, this is not something to worry about but you do need to visit your doctor or a sexual health clinic, GUM, STD or STI clinic. You should go as soon as you can and certainly in the next couple of weeks. Living with an infection is not a good idea as it can cause problems later in life. If you cannot get to a sexual health clinic then talking with your doctor is advised – doctors are used to talking about sexual questions and would much prefer you talk to them than worry.

7th December 2015

Response from Men's Sexual Health:

It sounds most likely that you may have a condition called "haematospermia". There are a number of causes for this, but in a younger man it isn’t often serious. Leakage of blood into your sperm from small capillaries is the commonest cause. The blood itself can irritate the urethra (pee tube) as you ejaculate, causing some pain.

We cannot tell you if your case is one of the rare ones which might be more serious so you ought to see your own doctor for a check. Depending on the findings you might need to see a specialist, but if nothing is found and you have had no more than 3 episodes of red gel in a month, you will probably not need any treatment.

It may still be worth considering whether you might have an infection. This is not something to worry about but you would also to visit your doctor or a sexual health clinic, GUM or STD or STI clinic to get this sort of check. Living with an infection is not a good idea as it can cause problems later in life. Remember that doctors are used to talking about sexual questions and would much prefer you talk to them than worry.
