Response from Men's Sexual Health:

Hi Jamie,

Sometimes, straining the bowels can result in a discharge of fluids from from the penis, orginating from the prostate. These fluids are usually clear, but can sometimes be cloudy. However, the symptoms you describe need to be seen by a doctor for further investigation. You describe the discharge as thick, and also list redness and being sore. This points to the likelihood of an STI, so you need to have yourself tested again, despite having had negative results in the past. Sometimes, it can take time for an STI to show on a test. Normally, you will test positive within two weeks of contracting an STI, but this can take longer. You should also have your prostate checked for any irregularities. There are other issues for concern, in addition to your physical ones. You may want to talk about your past sexual experiences with someone. We can offer a number of services, including counselling and advice. Please give us a call to discuss further options: 01380801951 (Wiltshire) or 01793250951 (Swindon).

Response from Men's Sexual Health:

You really do need to see a doctor. If you don’t, there is a serious risk of long lasting damage as well as possible infection getting into your penis or even the bloodstream. In this situation the best person to help you may well be a urological surgeon. In the UK you would normally be sent to a surgeon through a visit to your GP who can arrange this urgently if needed. If you have difficulty getting to a GP you could try the emergency department (A&E) but it may depend on whether their hospital has a urology surgeon as to whether they can help you.

You may well also need a sexual health check up: rent boys are at risk of catching more infections than most people and even though many of them have regular checks you should consider regular checks yourself if you have sex with any of them.

Response from Men's Sexual Health:

Thank you for contacting Men's Seuxal Health. You seem to have two concerns, your penis not getting hard and ejaculating (discharge) too soon. I will attempt to address both these issue. First, erection problems are either a physical issue, or psychological issue. Most men have experienced some form of erectile issue during their life, some its a passing phase, others it can be a longer issue where support is needed, and that could be medical or psychological depending on whats causing it

For example some Physical issues include - deterioration of the arteries (this is more common in older men), diabetes, smoking, alcoholism, overweight, hormone problems. And some Psychological issues include - anxiety/nerves, relationship problems, depression, exhaustion, stress, childhood abuse.

It is unlikely the fact that you go to the gym that is causing this, usually the fact that you go to the gym is a positive good thing, and would normally effect the body in a good way.

Regarding your second issue, discharging too soon, again many men suffer from Premature ejaculation, a recent UK survey said 10% of male population had suffered with PE at some point in their life. Another European study classed PE as lasting around 1.8 mins, and with 7.3 mins being classed as normal, would you say you fall into this first category as what you class as PE might not be PE. There are initially 4 treatments for PE - 1) Distraction method - when you are nearing climax, think about something comepletely different than whats going on. 2) Applying a delay gel to your penis, this will decrease sensitivity and hopefully improve your duration. 3) Delay condoms, this are coated with the delay gel and with the added thickness of the condom this too will help improve your duration. 4) start stop method - when alone try masterbating till u reach the point where you are going to climax but stop yourself, repeat this 3 or 4 times to build up your own self control, and then allow yourself to climax, after a few times a week doing this, you should find yourself lasting longer. The penis will naturally lose erection most times after ejaculation, but after a short period of rest time, some men are able to get erect and ejaculate again. Again it is unlikely that going to the gym is causing this issue either. The fact you are suffering from both erection and premature ejaculation makes me think you have more of a psychological problem to overcome than anything going on with your body physically. We would suggest trying some sexual therapy/counselling, if you live in the Swindon area we can provide this for free. You could also discuss this with your GP/Doctor to confirm there is no underlying health issues going on and they should also be able to suggest a good counselling service if they also think you would benefit from such treatment. Please get back in touch if you need any further advice or support.

Penis discomfort

I had a drunken one night stand about 2 weeks ago - unprotected vaginal sex. I'm 37. The day after there was a tingling sensation in my penis which disappeared after a few days but has since returned after having protected sex. It's not constant and not particularly painful but slightly uncomfortable. It feels like it's at the tip of the penis. I have had no other STD type symptoms (no pain during urination / ejaculation, no discharge etc). I am very worried I have an STD though - does it sound like I could have? If I gonfor a test, what should I get tested for with this symptom? Thanks. E

Response from Men's Sexual Health:

You are right to wonder whether you may have an infection and we would suggest that you should get checked.

There are several types of STI that you can get, and in some cases you don’t even notice any symptoms although you can still pass it on as well as getting complications yourself later.

You don’t need to worry about what to get tested for – all the clinics will know what to test for.

Response from Men's Sexual Health:

Hello and thank you for contacting Men's Sexual Health. From what you have described, it does sound like you have a Sexually Transmitted Infection. For example Chlamydia and Gonorrhea are to STI's that can cause discharge (this dirty drops of water you talk about), although it may be another STI. You need to go to your nearest Sexual Health Clinic, GUM clinic or Doctor/GP so they can examine and prescribe the right course of medicine. Please do not be afraid to do this, as it will not clear up without medication, the discharge may go and you may think you are healed, but this is not possible, signs and symptoms can come and go with STI's, and sometimes you can be infected and no have any signs or symptoms. You need to get medicine so that you will not pass it on to anyone else. Until you have got treated, please refrain from having sex with anyone else or you risk passing it on before you are clear of the STI. If you live in Swindon we can make an appointment for you, so please get back in touch. Please let us know if you need any further advice or support.

Hello thanks for getting in touch with MSH. Many men suffer from Premature ejaculation, a recent UK survey said 10% of male population had suffered with PE at some point in their life. Another European study classed PE as lasting around 1.8 mins, and with 7.3 mins being classed as normal. You fall just under average, but you are also not clased as serve as under 2mins. However we can make some suggestions on how to last longer. There are initially 4 treatments for PE - 1) Distraction method - when you are nearing climax, think about something comepletely different than whats going on. 2) Applying a delay gel to your penis, this will decrease sensitivity and hopefully improve your duration. 3) Delay condoms, these are coated with the delay gel and with the added thickness of the condom this too will help improve your duration. 4) start stop method - when alone try masterbating till u reach the point where you are going to climax but stop yourself, repeat this 3 or 4 times to build up your own self control, and then allow yourself to climax, after a few times a week doing this, you should find yourself lasting longer. Solution number 4 is prob going to help the most, the longer you can last on your own, the more chance you can use this skill with your wife. Please try the method listed above and we hope that helps. Also the penis will naturally lose erection most times after ejaculation, but after a short period of rest time, some men are able to get erect and and will find the second time it takes longer to ejaculate. Please get back in touch if you need to, we hope this has helped.

Response from Men's Sexual Health:

Hello and thank you for asking us with your problem. Based on the information you have given, it could possibly be NSU - Non Specific Urethritis. Although this is mainly caught from having unprotected sex, it is possible to get it without having sex if you urinary tract gets infected by a certain kind of bacteria. The most common signs of having NSU are: white or cloudy discharge from the penis, usually more noticeable first thing in the morning, pain burning sensation or difficulty when passing urine, feeling of needing to pass water frequently, itching or irritation at the end of the urethra, you may have some of these or none of these. It is easily treated by a course of antibiotics. If not treated it can lead to further complications such as, painful swelling of the testicles,

Reduced fertility (inability to have children), Inflammation (pain and swelling) of the joints. Hence why it is best to seek treatment. Although you may not have NSU, we would recommend you see you local GP or Doctor and discuss what you have told us and they will be able to perform simple tests to diagnose your problem. If you live in the Swindon area and would like support booking a appointment or would like further support please get back in touch.

Response from Men's Sexual Health:

Hi thanks for contacting us. Regarding your leaking penis, there could be a couple of explanations, the fact it is sticky, it could just be a small release of pre-cum. But also have you ever had unprotected sex, that means sex without using a condom, as there could be a chance you are describing a discharge which is caused by an sexually transmitted infection (STI) such a chlamydia, if you have had unprotected sex then visit your local GP/GUM clinic and get tested and they will give your medicine to clear this infection up. Regarding your masturbation and body building, it is extreamly unlikely this is effecting your week fealing. Maybe you are over doing it at the gym, are you eating a varied and balanced diet to give you the energy you need to be a body builder as it is extreamly important to be getting the right combination of vitamins, minerals, carbs etc. Consult your doctor about your week/tired feeling you may find you have an underlying issue that needs medical attention. We hope this has helped with your concern, please get back in touch if we can be of further help

Response from Men's Sexual Health:

Hello and thank you for getting in touch. It sounds from what you are describing, it is pre-cum. Pre-cum is a natural lubricant the penis produces when you are sexually aroused. Some men produce a lot, some a little and some men not at all, it varies from each person. This is completely normal. However, if you have ever had unsafe sex, and by unsafe I mean without a condom with a man or woman, then it could be possible that this discharge is an STI, sexually transmitted infection. If you have ever had unsafe sex, we would recommend you go to your nearest sexual health clinic and get a full screening. The doctors will then be able to give you the correct treatment if you have picked anything up. Please let us know if we can offer any further advice or support.

Response from Men's Sexual Health:

Hello and thanks for contacting MSH. From what you have said, we think it sounds like this is case of pre-cum. This is a fluid some men, not all men leak from there penis when they are sexually excited or turned on. Some men only leak a little, some a lot, and some men none at all. This can happen even without an erection and is an involuntary psychological reaction resulting in a physical result, pre cum. Although you may not being talking about sex, the subconscious idea of it in the back of your mind, and being around your girlfriend is having a result on your body, mild foreplay such as kissing can cause such a reaction too. It is perfectly normal so please try not to stress too much, if your girlfriend is concerned by this leakage, assure her it is normal, and she could even look online and research pre-cum if it helps, as can you. We hope this has helped ease your concern with this issue.
