A virus is a microscopic organism, they are unique because they cannot reproduce without a host cell. After contacting a host cell the virus will inject genetic material in the cell and take over its fucntions. The cell is now infected and it will continue to reproduce.

Viruses can be passed between person to person and from mother to baby.
