There are a number of reasons why this may happen. Given your ages, it may be that your wife is not producing very much natural lubrication – it gets less for most women as they get older, particularly once they reach the menopause when their periods stop. You could start by buying a vaginal lubricant – most pharmacies sell them. The easiest way is for your wife to ask a female pharmacist for one – many women use them and there is no need for embarrassment. You should then gently massage some into her vagina before sex and also put plenty on your penis.
If the problem does not go away, ask your doctor. It is possible that the problem has another cause, for example a yeast infection.
